Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers.

The Nevilles Are Coming

So here's my ersatz Nevilles, first unit thereof:

I still really like Sir Stig.

I'm generally quite happy with them although the photo does show a couple of details that need touching up and shading but I think the white and blue work well together and, more importantly, form a strong contrast with the Percy red and black.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's been looking and commenting; I've never been good at Unit painting as I find it rather boring to do the same sort of things over and over again, so having any kind of support is key in slogging through it.

I imagine that after one unit of 12 I'll need to take a break and do something else. Given that I've been watching a lot of Ripper Street that might well take the form of the IHMN Reid and Drake miniatures.

    1. Cheers Tamsin. I just can't find any evidence to support my desire to give him a white enamelled helmet.

  2. Looking good! I like the red/black vs white/blue. Sir Stig must either be an able veteran or a over-confident fighter.
I'm with you on unit painting. I admire those people who can do units of 60-80 figures or more! I thought I was doing a lot back in the days I tried to do 16-20 figure units.

    1. 8 seems to me to be about the most I can manage. I still have nightmares about the Tyranid army I did a few years ago. I wonder how I'll do with a unit of 12 archers.

  3. Looking good. Pity about not being justified to give Sir Stig a white helmet though :)

Look at it another way ... It could be worse, you could be doing an all cavalry army :)
